Google Adsense is probably the monetizer the most popular place in the world. When you start showing ads on your Web site, Google provides the statistics. The statistics themselves are pretty basic: The number of impressions, clicks and income generated. You can also see the clickthrough (clicks divided by impressions) and eCPM (revenue per thousand impressions). Google also provides the grooves, which is a way to differentiate between different ads. You can install the "custom" channels and allocate all the ad to one of those grooves. So you can see your stats divided between the grooves. You can also define the grooves of the URL, which include a domain and (optionally) an index. All ads in that URL (or any derivative URL) is counted in your channel URL (put simply, if you define a "mydomain.com / mydir" that the announcement at that URL will be counted in that slot. A ad in the "mydomain.com / mydir / derived_dir /…" also will be counted at that URL). Publishers have noticed that the changes in ad-block size, layout and colors have a huge effect on their earnings. Sometimes you can move the announcement a po'in your page and give the mixture the color of your place and your earnings can double or even more. There is no easy recipe anyway. While Google suggests a particular provision's (the "Google; Heat-map" of Adsense (HREF = "https: / / www.google.com/support/adsense/bin/answer.py?answer=17954 & ctx = en: search & query = + ad placement & topic = 0 & type = f ")), it doesn 't work for everything. A publisher has to change seriously and constantly try its ads. The grooves are of course very useful for those tests. Since the Adsense stats are updated throughout the day, some publishers spend much time checking and examining the performance of the place. The control of your income can be upgraded to vice inducing
